DAS ATE - First for your client
In the first of a series of three articles, Fran Clothier - Business Development
Manager (ATE) looks at why DAS ATE are First for your client.
DAS UK has been supporting access to justice
for consumers since 1975, and this has been the
foundation of our ATE team's success for over
20 years. Through a wealth of knowledge and
experience, we have built our products and
ecosystem of services all with a primary focus
on customer benefit.
Since LASPO we have supported more than
24,000 victims of medical negligence with ATE
policies, and have paid out more than £30m
in claims. Our day one cover ensures clients are
covered for the key investigation stage, meaning
they will always get access to justice, either
through a successful compensation claim
or the closure they get from an expert lawyer
investigating the strength of their case.
Our delegated authority supports a wider
spectrum of clients by extending past standard
injury claims with our expert partners and
covering cases such as military, complex sports
injury such as rugby union cases and sexual abuse.
Throughout the life cycle of a case, we work
in tandem with our partner firms to achieve good
customer outcomes, applying pragmatism
and a collaborative approach when it is required.
Furthermore, we do not formally audit our firms.
Instead, we will conduct an assurance review,
with the main objective being to ensure that the
client is being provided with all the information and
support they need to understand the ATE product.
We have developed additional documentation
to support our partner firms in aiding this
understanding.
As an insurer it is our regulatory responsibility
to ensure that our products meet the required
standards, and it is through our process of annual
reviews that we check that clients' needs and
expectations are being met and that our product
is providing fair value. As an example, our 2022
analysis shows that we had no upheld complaints,
25,792 items of correspondence actioned on the
day of receipt and 78% of all claims paid without
the need for further information.
It is important that our 'client first' ethos extends
across all areas of our business, and to this end
we have a marketing budget which is dedicated
to supporting PI charities, such as AvMA and CBIT.
Our view is that any funds spent on networking
and conferencing should go back into charities
working to lobby for change and support survivors.
